I will start off by saying that I am no Betty Crocker and I am also not a patient person. Because of this, I don’t necessarily enjoy baking or cooking things that are complicated or take too much time.
However, one of the perks of living out on a backroad is being able to grow your own food (and have a ton of pets 😉).
So, on Sunday, before the heat got too much to handle, hubby and I went out and picked some fresh — and delicious if I do say so myself — raspberries.
Even Molly, our beautiful cat, joined us.
About an hour later, we had gotten a decent amount of raspberries and watered the bushes so that the ones that weren’t quite ready, got on their way.
And then…it was jam time!
Now, this recipe is super easy and simple!!! We used:
4.5 cups of raspberries
6.5 cups of sugar
1 box of pectin
How to make the jam…
1) Mash the berries.
2) Pour into a pot and add pectin.
3) Bring to a boil while constantly stirring.
4) Add the sugar. Keep stirring.
5) Bring everything to a boil once more.
6) Stir for ONE more minute after it’s been boiling.
7) DONE! Pour into a jar and let it cool down.
See?? SUPER EASY! And let me tell you, it tastes DELICIOUS. I’ve never been a fan of jam or jelly. Like, ever. But this one? YUM! We even had it for dinner! Toast, butter, and some homemade raspberry jam.
Hope you found this helpful and it motivates you to give it a try! If I can do it, YOU can do it!
Now, like I mentioned above, I am no Betty Crocker or Martha Stewart, for that matter, so the pictures and experiences that I will continue to share will be far from perfect. They will be as real as they can get because let’s be honest, between work and family, who has time for picture-perfect? Not this girl.
